About the Warwickshire Churches Site
Welcome to my tribute to the church art and architecture of England's most central county, Warwickshire. In my ongoing exploration of the county I aim to gather a full photographic record of it's ecclesiastical heritage, from those churches that are well known and visited in the more picture postcard areas of Warwick, Leamington and Stratford to the lesser known churches of Rugby, Nuneaton, urban Coventry and Birmingham, and little known (and harder of access) treasures to the north.
This definition of Warwickshire will be aligned to the pre-1974 boundaries (as defined in the Warwickshire edition of Pevsner's Buildings of England for ease of reference) and will thus include those areas carved out to form the new West Midlands county, including Coventry, those areas of Birmingham that historically fell within the old county borders, and those rural areas caught between the two cities.
My photographic journey through Warwickshire's churches began as a gradual accumulation which has become an extensive collection on Flickr, which this site aims to build upon and present in a more structured order.
